Backlog AI Assistant: Launch details and updated terms
We’re thrilled to share some big news: On March 5, 2026, we are officially launching the Backlog AI Assistant!
At Nulab, we’re always looking for ways to help your team move faster. These new generative AI features—including smart chat, task summarization, and proactive suggestions—are designed to take the manual “busy work” out of your day so you can focus on the big picture.
Who can access it?
The AI assistant features will be available to all our Premium plans and above users starting on the release date.
Important Update: New Terms of Use
To support this launch, we are introducing the Backlog AI Assistant Features Terms, which will become part of our General Terms and Conditions effective March 5, 2026.
We know that data privacy and security are top of mind for your team. Here are the four key things you need to know about how we handle your information:

Your data stays yours (No training allowed)
We believe your data belongs to you. Any information you enter or reference, and the results you get, will never be used for machine learning or retraining by Nulab or our AI model partners.

Built-in confidentiality
Consider your data under lock and key. Anything you process through the AI is automatically treated as strictly confidential information—no need to add “Confidential” labels or marks.

Smart data scoping
The AI is a focused teammate. It only references data within the projects you actually participate in. It cannot “see” into projects or spaces where you aren’t a member.

Trusted third-party services
To provide these high-quality features, we utilize industry-leading services like Amazon Bedrock. Your data is only transmitted and processed to the extent necessary to provide the AI features. We are committed to transparency; you can always find the most up-to-date list of our third-party services and regions in the Nulab Security White Paper.

You own the output
Whether it’s a task summary or a project suggestion, the rights (including copyrights) belong to you the moment they’re generated. You are free to use them for both commercial and non-commercial purposes.
