Update: Cacoo ‘diagrams’ are now called ‘boards’

Cacoo is evolving, and we’ve made a small yet meaningful change in what we call our Cacoo canvas. As part of this evolution, what you’ve known as diagrams in Cacoo will now be called boards

Teams today need flexible spaces to plan, brainstorm, and collaborate visually — whether you’re in the same room or across the globe. Boards let you do just that, giving you a place to organize ideas, plan projects, and connect with others in a creative and engaging way.

We’ve put together a quick Q&A to explain what this means, why we’re making the change, and how we’re continuing to make Cacoo a space where work can be fun, creative, and collaborative, no matter where you are.

Why are we changing to ‘boards’?

By renaming diagrams as boards, we’re highlighting the flexibility and collaborative nature of Cacoo. Whether you’re in design, marketing, operations, or tech, Boards represent a space where any team can visually collaborate, plan, and get work done together.

Think of it as moving from a single-purpose tool to a flexible canvas for any kind of teamwork. And we’ll continue evolving Boards to make collaboration even easier, no matter the team size, role, or task.

What are online whiteboards?

Online whiteboards are virtual workspaces where teams can collaborate visually, from anywhere. You can add sticky notes, shapes, diagrams, charts, or images — all in real time — and work together as if you were in the same room.

Cacoo boards are our version of an online whiteboard, offering a space for visual collaboration that adapts to the way your team works. You can bring ideas to life together, whether you’re mapping out a project, brainstorming concepts, or planning a workflow.

Collaboration is easy with features like video calls and threaded comments to keep conversations in context, collaborative sessions with timers and follow mode to stay on track, and the ability to present your work and get feedback in seconds.

Will this affect my existing work or links?

Nope. All existing diagrams are now boards automatically. Your links, permissions, and files remain exactly the same, so you can continue working without interruption.

When will I see this change in Cacoo?

This update will roll out to all global users by 19 November 2025. (Please note: JA environments are not affected by this update.)

Where can I learn more about boards in Cacoo?
