Backlog AI Assistant Now Supports Creating and Deleting Documents!
Hello from the Backlog Development Team!
Thank you for using Backlog.
We are excited to announce a new feature: you can now create and delete Backlog documents directly through your conversations with the Backlog AI Assistant.
Overview of the New Features
With this update, the Backlog AI Assistant can now perform the following actions:
- Create New Documents: Automatically draft and create new documents based on your conversation with the AI.
- Delete Documents: Specify and delete an existing document directly from the chat.
Background
Previously, the Backlog AI Assistant primarily focused on providing text-based answers and organizing information. However, turning AI-generated content into a functional document required users to manually create a page and copy-paste the text.
We received feedback from customers asking for a way to “seamlessly save documents generated by the Backlog AI Assistant” and wanting to “reduce the burden of maintaining documents.”
With this update, you can now create and delete documents straight from your chat with the AI. By reducing the need to navigate between pages and eliminating the hassle of copying and pasting, managing your documents becomes significantly more convenient.
Prompt Example
When you give the Backlog AI Assistant an instruction like the one below, a confirmation message will appear asking if you’d like to proceed. Simply click “Approve” to create the document.
“Please generate a report of the tasks the team worked on in this project over the past week. Save the output as a document titled ‘2026/05’ under ‘Reports’ in the project’s documents.”
Eligible Plans
This feature is available to users on the following plans:
Plans: Premium and Platinum
How to Use
No special settings or preparation are required on your end. Following the update, you can start using this feature immediately by prompting the Backlog AI Assistant.
Important Notes
You must have “Administrator” or “Project Administrator” privileges to delete documents via the AI Assistant.
Documents deleted by the Backlog AI Assistant bypass the Trash and are permanently deleted. Please exercise caution, as they cannot be restored once deleted.
Closing
We hope this update makes information gathering and document management within Backlog smoother than ever. We encourage you to leverage it to optimize your team’s information sharing and daily operations!
Backlog will continue to evolve as a tool that empowers your teamwork.
