All ‘Legacy Topics’ will soon be deleted

Our Typetalk team has been working on a big project these last few months. The goal: clearly separate each organization within Typetalk, so users can easily switch between their different organizations.

This started a few months ago when we launched the global bar featuring our Organization Switcher. After that, we migrated all DMs.

Unfortunately, we’re left with some old topics and DMs that have no associated organization. We created a temporary section (i.e. Legacy Topics) to house these conversations, so users could choose where to migrate them. Now, it’s time to delete the Legacy Topics section of Typetalk.

Note: If you don’t see a “Legacy Topics” section in your global bar, good news: you’re all set! If you do see it, you have topics and DMs that you’ll need to migrate before August 3rd, 2018.

Legacy Topics

We will eliminate access to the Legacy Topics section of Typetalk in two phases:

  • By July 5th, 2018, you will no longer be able to post in Legacy Topics; however, your topics and DMs will still be viewable.
  • By August 3rd, 2018, you will no longer be able to access Legacy Topics.

Why are we making these changes?

For users who belong to more than one organization, the benefit is simple: it keeps your workflow organized. Having your dashboard display one organization at a time allows you to focus on the work at hand, rather than making sure you’re posting your latest message in the right place.

But there’s another benefit for organizations, especially ones that use more than one of Nulab’s collaborative apps (i.e. Cacoo, Backlog, and Typetalk.) Regardless of which apps you use, Administrators manage their organizations using their Nulab Account. This makes it easy to add, delete, and manage users. And this account gives companies more control and security options, such as 2-step authentication and IP restrictions.

Migration steps

If you haven’t already migrated all of your topics and DMs to an organization, now’s your chance!

Just open up Legacy Topics, and a message bar will appear prompting you to migrate your topics.

Message bar

Click on the “Migrate Topics” button, and a dialog box will walk you through the simple, three-step process.

When you migrate a topic to an organization, make sure all topic members are part of your organization. Otherwise, you will need to remove them or have an Administrator add them to your organization.

If you would prefer to download your remaining Legacy Topic data rather than migrate it, contact us, and we’ll provide you a CSV formatted doc.

* Legacy Topic data no longer available after August 3rd, 2018. (Add 13th May 2020)

Remember, if you have any questions along the way, you can contact us directly or see our support pages for more info.
