Backlog by Nulab releases its new Kanban board and aims to reach a larger customer base
From today on, the users of task management and bug tracking software Backlog will have access to a new feature, the Kanban board – or “Boards” as it is called on the app. The latest in a long list, this recent addition is part of Nulab‘s plan to become more competitive in the project management software industry.Â
Originally designed to support only software developers, over the years Backlog has increasingly shifted towards a broader market. Today, the software has become a tool that all types of teams, from marketers to NGOs, use.Â
“When we designed Backlog, 15 years ago, our primary goal was to support and simplify the work of software developers. We wanted to create a tool that made software development more structured, less chaotic,” says Nulab’s Co-founder Shinsuke Tabata. “Over the past years, we have combined Backlog’s original features to features that make our product accessible to a differentiated pool of customers. Today, Backlog is an all-in-one project management software. In one tool, different types of teams have all they need to organize different types of projects, including wikis, Git, and now Boards.”
The Kanban board also reflects Nulab’s belief to listen to its clients first when planning its product updates. “Our users requested it, our developers listened to it, and today we are excited to put it online finally,” commented Mr Tabata.Â
With the Kanban board, users can have an immediate picture of their workflow. Teams and individuals can visually organize their projects, easily keep track of the progress of their tasks, and locate any roadblock. “Boards” joins the existing Gantt chart that offers an exhaustive view of the timelines of projects and tasks.
Recently, Backlog has made new other features available: from the Slack integration to updates for iOs and Android to the custom status feature. Requested by users in the past months, this last one allows teams to customize the status of tasks and create a more personalized process.
“We want to become more competitive, and we want to offer a tool that helps any team succeed: sales experts, web designers, startups… Any company in need of a well-rounded task management software,” added Nulab’s Co-founder. “We are proud of the progress made so far. Backlog was recently selected as an Overall SaaS Award winner for the international 2019 APPEALIE Awards. Thanks to our users’ reviews, the world’s largest tech marketplace, G2, named Backlog a Leader for project management. We were cherry-picked among with a few other software in a list of over 800 brands. Today, Backlog is used by more than 1 million customers worldwide: We plan to grow that number, and increase our presence in the North American and European market.”Â
Nulab is already planning the release of new features for the next months.
