Saving time on creating diagrams by over 50% with Cacoo

We talked with Park SangUk, Megazone’s AWS Solution Architect Manager, to find out how Cacoo helps them to draw AWS architecture diagrams for all their client projects and provide easier diagram-sharing and version control through its cloud-based system. Megazone reduced the time spent on rendering designs by more than 50 percent, helping them to produce nearly 300 AWS architecture diagrams every year.

Megazone's solution architects have to create AWS architecture diagrams and propose solutions for client approval before building the architecture. They were creating diagrams with PowerPoint, which was a slow and inefficient method for diagram sharing and version control (file management).

As the company expanded, Megazone needed a better tool to keep up with the increased demand for system diagrams. The process of developing and managing diagrams also needed an overhaul.

Cacoo’s cloud-based system enables them to instantly share updated diagrams with team members and collect feedback quickly.

The Megazone team saw significant improvements in file management and version control compared to their previous tool. They can simply save different diagram versions within the same file, rather than maintaining a separate file for each version, which can quickly become a jumble of files. Cacoo also makes it easier to organize diagrams within personal and shared folders.

Cacoo’s library of AWS templates and icons allowed Megazone to reduce the amount of time spent on developing diagrams. Because members can reuse diagrams in their shared folders, they don’t need to waste time drafting new ones from scratch.

Sharing diagrams not only saves time but also makes it easier to see who is working on which diagram. Team members, for example, can just view a Cacoo diagram and see who created it. In addition, the search feature allows them to find diagrams in team folders with ease.

Using Cacoo, Megazone has streamlined the AWS diagram creation process. Drawing large system architectural diagrams takes roughly two hours on average, but the process has been reduced by more than 50 percent.

Managing diagram files takes a fraction of the time as well. In the past, the team spent over an hour organizing folders and updating diagrams, but this same task takes no more than 20 minutes now.

Megazone produces roughly 300 AWS architecture diagrams per year, and their solution architects, technical sales representatives, and operations team leaders use Cacoo for AWS architecture diagrams on a daily basis.
